Anifa Mvuemba - Pioneers Who Have Shaped America's Fashion Industry


Anifa Mvuemba born November 16, 1990, is an African American fashion designer. Her family moved to the United States from Kenya when she was barely three years old. She took a fashion design course during her junior year in high school and began working in retail after she graduated. She is well known as the founder of the women’s clothing line, Hanifa. She is a self-taught designer and fashion enthusiast with lots of professionalism and details in her work.


She launched her brand, Hanifa, in 2012 and was named one of the fast company’s most creative people in business. Her fashion label is a contemporary clothing line that varies in shapes, textures and styles. She was previously known as a customs and alterations seamstress. Ever since she launched the brand, she has released different collections to serve everyone based on their preferences.
